Festival organisers commissioned a play from Hawea Flat community theatre group Flat Out Productions two years ago and the result is Witches Over Wanaka, which brilliantly satirises several community issues all too familiar to local audiences.The cast of nine talented Hawea and Wanaka women has delivered a humorous, engaging, and perceptive show, in collaboration with playwright Jo Randerson and director Geoff Pinfield.
The plot revolves around Beth Dingle (Robyn Bardas), a sustainability "expert" who returns from overseas after her father dies and leaves her the family high country station at Lake Hawea.
